Dee Designs Ceramics
NEW PIECES COMING SOON!
Hello! I’m Denise
I’m Denise, a ceramic figurative Artist, based in Edinburgh, Scotland. I was introduced to ceramics while I was on a community Arts course., many moons ago., and went on from that to do an HND in 3-dimensional design course in pottery and ceramics. Afterwards, I gained a place on the Arts and Design course at ECA (Edinburgh College of Art).
I welcome special one-off commissions such as small, figurative portraits. Please take a look at my site and just contact me if you have ideas about something you would like made in a figurative style or you would like to buy something from my store.
I will be setting up some pilot workshops in community venues (as soon as community venues are safely and fully operating) and I look forward to being able to pass on the excitement and fulfilling experience of creating ceramics.
Visit the gallery to view a selection of bespoke hand-made ceramics. All of my ceramics are available, so feel free to purchase them.
Why Dee Designs Ceramics?
All my sculptures are completely hand – made. Therefore, you are buying a one of a kind original ceramic art and each repeat sculpture will be different.
Each sculpture has it’s with its own unique character and expression. If you purchase directly from my shop page you will receive that exact sculpture. However, if you request similar pieces in the event of a particular piece being sold out, it will be broadly similar but not the same for the reasons above.
Handmade ceramic items are often said to create an element of inspiration and creativity in its surrounding environment, therefore, they can make a fantastic addition to your home or workplace.
In order to produce high-quality ceramics by hand, it requires a lot of care and attention during every step of the process. That’s why I always ensure to make the current sculpture that I’m producing my best piece of work to date.
As the ceramic sculptures are fully produced by me, you can rest assure that my items are made using non-harmful substances which have minimal to no impact on the local environment.
The only materials used to make my ceramic sculptures is clay, earthen elements, powders and water. After being shaped into a form, it is then fired in a high temperature kiln. Finally, they are covered in a decorative waterproof substance and left to dry before being sold.
"An extremely talented and experienced ceramicist who is always happy to share her ideas and extensive knowledge. Her work is full of character and charm."
